Proceeds from the night benefit Island City Opera, whose mission is to "present the highest quality opera, advance the careers of talented artists and encourage love of the art" by providing Alameda with great opera. In addition to other events, such as their annual Opera in the Park and Garden Party Concert & Auction, the group also often performs Rigolletto, the "tale of lost innocence and the tragedy of vengeance," performed in January.

The show is directed by Ellen St. Thomas, conducted by Robert Ashens and Jonathan Khuner. Lighting and costumes are provided by Elle Ghini and Joy Graham. An hour before each show, Island City Opera's Anchor Society provides a lecture on the opera.
