About 6 year(s) ago by Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Oakland/Alameda
Let's Make Room!

When: Wednesday, January 17, 2018, 4:30 - 6PM

Where: Alameda Chamber of Commerce Room; 2215-A South Shore Center, Alameda

What:    Make this upcoming year a productive one! Lisbeth "Lis" McKinley, a Certified Professional Organizer (CPO) and Move Manager from Letsmakeroom.com can make all of your organizational dreams come true. In Living with Less, or How to Get Rid of your Stuff, she will teach participants how to follow through on New Year's resolutions and bring control over their lives and living spaces. The price of admission is only an item for the scholarship book-sale and yard-sale or a non-perishable food for the county food bank, so bring a friend!

Learn to downsize, clear out, and clean out over wine and hors d'oeuvres. Let's Make Room, the group managing this event, comprises of experts who have been helping residents of San Francisco and of Marin, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties organize since 2009. Understanding that decluttering is a stressful experience, they are ready to do the heavy lifting when it comes to organizing homes and have partnered with local moving companies, estates appraisers, and residential modeling and design specialists to do so. They can help with anything from organizing tips to moving planning. For more information, visit their page.

Many who hear about "Professional Organizers" may scoff at the notion of organizing as a profession. They may not believe one is not needed unless a person belongs on Hoarders. However, Professional Organizers can help everyone, even those not on reality TV shows. For example, anxiety, instead of laziness, prevents many people from knowing when to keep, trash, or donate items. Such people may feel the same nervousness others feel for tests and public speaking when approaching a dirty room. Additionally, cleanliness, like good diet, is a lifestyle handed down from parent to child, and if someone is not fortunate enough to have grown up in a family that demonstrated such good habits, they are normally left to deal with the mental and financial consequences of disorganized living on their own. Cleanliness is godliness, and Professional Organizers are trained to help individuals of all backgrounds achieve that standard. They understand that organizing is as intuitive as cutting hair or writing essays-- it's a skill to be taught, meaning it can be learned.

Lisbeth "Lis" McKinley, the owner of Let's Make Room, is a veteran organizer who has delivered her gospel to many diverse groups, from real-estate professionals to social-service groups to homeowners. A New York City native with degrees from New York University and John F. Kennedy University, she draws from her training as a marriage and family therapist to build dynamic connections with her clientele. She and her crew have helped hundreds of households to make the San Francisco Bay Area a cleaner, more relaxing place. For more information about Lis, check out her page here  or call her at 510-846-1976. Be sure to check her work out on the website's gallery page.
