March 9-17 The diverse artists assembled for D.I.R.T. channel their own anger, fears, frustrations and joys into physical acts some of provocative beauty. KQED Arts stormSURGE: The waters are rising Climate change is the defining subject of our time. The 2019 festival features artists exploring ideas and concerns surrounding Global Warming and displacement as a result of environmental change, with a special focus on artists from island nations and frontline communities. The D.I.R.T. Festival, or Dance In Revolt(ing) Times, is a social political dance festival in its 4th year. D.I.R.T. presents the work of artists that explicitly addressing local/global challenges through their creative process. There are many ways that an artist may address such challenges be it from the content of their choreography, to looking at who has a voice, to their process.
