THUMBS UP

Would gladly book again. Rooms were clean, breakfast was limited but everything was fresh. We traveled with a group of kids so that was helpful. Very safe since only guest can enter hotel after hour with room key

Best among few choices

We needed to stay on Alameda island for a family event so our options were limited. The hotel is in the center of Alameda not near the water. It's the usual brown toned decor that so many hotels seem to use. The staff was friendly, breakfast was okay, and parking was convenient and free. The only negative was the price which I felt was about $50 more than it should have been

Great Location and Quality

We stay here everytime we go back to Alameda, you can walk to restaurants, crab cove and enjoy a wonderful walk along the Bay. Good restaurants within walking distance, service is excellent and good value for money

Good for a few nights

I was here on an assignment and my company placed me here. The room (106) was very clean and the sheets were very fresh. The hotel is kind of in the middle of the city and there are quite a few places to eat within walking distance. There's a Mexican restaurant right across the street and a donut shop around the corner to the left of the hotel. The staff was very courteous and friendly. One staff member, Rose, was very helpful in making sure that my Emotional support animal was made to stay with me. Sadly, the conditions for what to do with my dog when I had to go to work just didn't work out. It was a great stay. The environment is quiet at night. The breakfast is standard fare for any type of hotel in line with a Best Western, but I thought the breakfast items were better here. I would stay here again, but without my dog

Quiet, comfortable, and a reasonably good value

My family and I stayed at the Hawthorn Suites in Alameda in July of 2019 and had a pleasant experience. This is a clean, well-maintained, and modern hotel. The surrounding neighborhood appeared safe and was very quiet. While the parking lot is a little on the small side, we never had an issue finding a spot, even on days when we returned to the property later in the evening. Our suite was large and comfortable. It had two rooms separated by a galley style kitchen area and the bathroom. One room had two queen-size beds and the other had a small couch, coffee table, and television. There was also a television in the sleeping area. The kitchen area had a dish sink, microwave, and mini-refrigerator. There were no further kitchen amenities such as dishes, flat ware, or dish soap. This was less well-appointed than other Hawthorn Suites properties we have visited in the past, where we have frequently had all of those small items. Many times, we have had a stove/oven and a full size refrigerator as well. The breakfast area near the lobby is adequately sized and pretty comfortable. The breakfast offerings were pretty standard for most hotels, and included oats, cereals, yogurt, and an alternating menu of pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and French toast. I stuck with the oatmeal and did not try any of the other hot food, but it appeared that those items were pre-packaged (i.e.) frozen and not freshly made. I could be wrong about that. I would have liked to have more fresh fruit options, but otherwise have no complaints about the breakfast. The fitness center is very small and has limited equipment, but is good enough to get some work in. There was an out of service treadmill and an elliptical machine that did work, plus free weights, a small bench, a weight machine, and an odd contraption for stretching. There was also a hot tub area, which we did not use. Overall, this Hawthorn Suites is a nice hotel and one we would consider staying at again
