When: Saturday, December 7th from 4 PM - 6 PM\r\nWhere: City Hall: 2263 Santa Clara Ave\r\nWhat: Now that Halloween is over, we can finally celebrate Christmas and the holiday season!\r\n\r\nAlamedans like to kick start this season with a yearly tradition: the Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. Sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the Department of Public Works, this free event features live performances, music, and activities for kids.\r\n\r\nAmid dancing trees and a visit from Santa himself, Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft will grace the City Hall steps to light the symbol of family togetherness. Well-behaved Islanders will be gifted candy canes--will YOU be included?\r\n\r\nOne of the performing groups includes the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees. The group, which is directed by Pamm Drake from DANCE/10 Performing Arts Center in Alameda, has been represented at Tree Lighting Ceremonies around the Bay Area, including in San Francisco, Oakland, and Emeryville. They have also been included at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and The Hollywood Holiday Parade! Participating locations will offer treats and of course, hot cocoa.
