Learn about the wildlife of the Bay Area without getting wet! This Saturday and Sunday, naturalists at the Crab Cove Visitor Center will educate attendees about the fish of the shoreline. The fish-- including crabs, flounders, perches and pipefish, represent the the ecosystem of the Bay Area.
The Crab Cove Visitor Center at Crown Memorial State Beach, has been a fun and educational part of West Alameda since it opened in 1979. Located within walking distance of the shoreline, the free-admission center attracts visitors from across the bay with its interactive exhibits that cover the history and wildlife of the area. In addition, the gift shop provides toys and knick-knacks for children and books about ornithology and biology for adults.
The mission of the center is to educate residents about the importance of the Bay Area ecosystem. If you can't make it to the fish feeding, which will continue at the same time every Saturday and Sunday in November, be sure to check out their other programs, such as Storytime and Nature Fun, Family Nature Fun Hour, naturalist-guided hikes, and more.
